A Short Story, I mean, shortish poem.

Jenn Samson, as always offered the inspirational idea to spark this latest contribution. Her suggestion was “weathered leather and lemon meringue.” And I’ll be darned if that phrase didn’t have a fun Kipling, Jabberwocki-esque ring to it. So here you go. A poem inspired by Jenn Samson, and one of my favorite cable channels.

Weathered leather and lemon meringue

The fight of the fit
and the fit, they have fangs.
Come put on your armor, and bring something with tang

Weathered leather and lemon meringue

You’d think it’s a game, but it’s serious as sin.
Gear up with protection or don’t even come in.
Your heart best be ready and your hands sure and steady,

Weathered leather and lemon meringue

We’ve been at this for years,
that’s the knowledge you’ll need.
We’re here till it’s done,
that’s our motto and creed.

Put on your armor and bring something with tang

Weathered leather and lemon meringue.

Cheers Jenn!
